English: Tawi Tawi, Philippines (June 11, 2006) - Commanding officer of the medical treatment facility aboard U.S. Military Sealift Command (MSC) Hospital Ship USNS Mercy (T-AH 19), Navy Capt. Joseph L. Moore, discusses the ship’s medical capabilities with Sadikul A. Sahali, the governor of Tawi Tawi. As part of its five-month humanitarian assistance deployment to South and Southeast Asia, and the Pacific Islands, the crew aboard Mercy will spend several days delivering medical care to local residents. The crew will conduct medical operations ashore and aboard ship where they will provide general and ophthalmology surgery, basic medical evaluation and treatment, preventive medicine treatment, dental screenings and treatment, optometry screenings, eyewear distribution, public health training and veterinary services as requested by the host nations.
